  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.
  2. Bring to a low boil. Whisk 1/4 cup water and cornstarch together until dissolved. Slowly stir the slurry into the sauce and allow it to thicken.
  3. Remove from heat immediately and stir in the orange zest. Set aside.
  4. Add sesame oil to a wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the onion and cook for several minutes until softened.
  6. Add the ground turkey and cook until fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
  7. Add the broccoli and carrots and cook until tender and heated through.
  8. Reduce heat to low and stir in the teriyaki sauce. Simmer for several minutes before serving.
  9. Serve over rice, noodles, cauliflower rice, or in lettuce wraps.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chicken, pork, or beef for the turkey.
  • If using beef, drain excess grease after browning.
  • Add cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or sriracha for extra heat.
  • Other vegetables like snow peas, bell peppers, or baby corn work great in this stir fry.
  • If the teriyaki sauce becomes too thick, stir in extra water until desired consistency is reached.
