  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8 tacos 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g ground beef (80/20)
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 8 slices American cheese or cheddar
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 16 pickle slices
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over high heat until very hot.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions.
  3. Press each portion directly onto a tortilla, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.
  4. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Place the tortilla beef-side down onto the hot skillet and press firmly with a spatula.
  6. Cook for 2–3 minutes until a crispy crust forms.
  7. Flip the taco and immediately place a slice of cheese on top of the beef.
  8. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts and the tortilla is lightly toasted.
  9. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to make the sauce.
  10. Top tacos with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and burger sauce.
  11. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest smash burger tacos.
  • A cast-iron skillet creates the best crispy crust.
