Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Maple syrup for serving
- Powdered sugar for serving
- Whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter or nonstick spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix the batter.
- Pour the batter into the center of the hot waffle iron, spreading slightly if necessary.
- Close the waffle iron and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
- Transfer cooked waffles to a baking sheet in a warm oven while preparing the remaining batter.
- Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Do not overmix the waffle batter because this can make the waffles dense instead of fluffy.
- Keep finished waffles warm in the oven on a baking sheet instead of stacking them to maintain crisp edges.
- For extra fluffy waffles, separate the egg whites, beat them until soft peaks form, and gently fold them into the batter before cooking.
