Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup real unsalted butter, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 (16-ounce) containers cream cheese, buttercream, or vanilla cake frosting
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Spray mini muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Add the butter mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Spoon the batter into the mini muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
- Allow the batter to rest in the cups for 10 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 12–13 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are cooked through.
- Cool in the pan for 3 minutes, then transfer brownie bites to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Divide the frosting into three bowls. Tint one red, one blue, and leave one white.
- Arrange brownie bites in five rows of seven on a serving tray and pipe frosting in a patriotic flag-inspired pattern.
Notes
- Avoid overbaking to keep the brownie bites moist and fudgy.
- Use gel food coloring for brighter patriotic colors.
- Prepare a day ahead and store in an airtight container.
- Different frosting varieties can be used depending on preference.
