- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1 cup sauerkraut
- 1 cup crispy fried onions (for topping)
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 pretzel buns or hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground chicken, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika until just combined.
- Form into 4 patties.
- Preheat grill or pan to medium heat. Cook patties 5–6 minutes per side until 165 °F internal temperature. In the last minute, top each patty with Swiss cheese to melt.
- Toast buns 1–2 minutes cut side down until lightly golden.
- Assemble burgers: patty on bun bottom, topped with sauerkraut and crispy fried onions, then the top bun. Serve immediately.

- Use spicy mustard or add cayenne for heat.
- Add diced apple for extra sweetness and texture.
- Make extra maple-mustard sauce for dipping or spreading.
- Swap ground turkey or cheese type for variations.
