Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls are crispy on the outside and soft, cheesy, and flavorful on the inside. Made with leftover mashed potatoes, gooey cheese, and a golden breadcrumb coating, these bite-sized treats are perfect as a snack, appetizer, or side dish.

  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (chilled and firm)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • Cooking spray or a little olive oil

Instructions

  1. Ensure mashed potatoes are chilled and firm before starting.
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, Parmesan, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch balls. If sticky, lightly dampen hands.
  4. Coat each ball evenly in breadcrumbs.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease the basket.
  6. Place balls in the basket without overcrowding.
  7. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes
