Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
- Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and egg; beat until combined.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in separate bowl; gradually add to wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, cherries, and walnuts if using.
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden but centers slightly undercooked.
- Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Optional: Add 1 tsp almond extract for extra flavor.
- Do not overbake; cherries can make cookies slightly moist.
- Store in airtight container up to 1 week, or freeze for longer storage.
