Ingredients
Scale
- For the casserole:
- 1 package beef franks (about 8–10 hot dogs, sliced into rounds)
- 12 oz sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 4 cups chili (canned or homemade)
- 28 oz tater tots (frozen)
- For Toppings (optional):
- sour cream
- green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Slice the beef franks into thin rounds. Grease your crockpot with butter or cooking spray.
- In a bowl, mix together the sliced hot dogs and chili, stirring well to distribute evenly.
- Layer half of the frozen tater tots evenly in the crockpot. Add half of the chili-hot dog mixture, then sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add the remaining chili-hot dog mixture, then sprinkle the remaining cheese. Top with the remaining tater tots.
- Cover and cook on low for about 3.5 hours (up to 4 hours if needed).
- For serving, transfer to oven-safe bowls, top with cheese, and broil for 5-6 minutes until melted, or serve in toasted buns with toppings.
Notes
- Greasing the crockpot helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.
- Cooking time can be adjusted slightly without affecting results.
- Broiling at the end adds a delicious melted cheese crust.
- Serve with sour cream and green onions for extra flavor.
